Pauline Ramona Winter

Pauline Ramona Winter (Peterson) – our dear wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother passed away on March 10, 2016 at Cottonwoods Extended Care Facility in Kelowna, BC. She is and will be very much missed but after several years struggling with various health issues is finally at peace. Survived by her loving husband John, daughter Paulette Winter of Surrey, BC, son Brian (Donna) Winter of Weyburn, grandchildren Brett (Shannon), Evan (Terilyn), Haley (Byron), Elise and Kirk, great grandchildren Mason, Emma and Isla. Predeceased by her brother Dennis Peterson and parents Paul and Alice Peterson. Pauline was born in Griffin, August 31, 1928 into a farming community.  She attended sewing school in Saskatoon at the age of 17 – loving every minute of her classes! On February 15, 1949 she married John Winter in Vancouver, BC and family gathered only three weeks ago to celebrate their 67th wedding anniversary! Upon marrying they began farming on their own land in Midale, until 1960. A brief move to Russell, MB had them involved in a hardware partnership. In 1961 Kelowna, BC became home where they owned and operated The Drive Inn Motel with a small grocery store and gas bar. After that they owned and operated Courtesy Cleaners, a dry cleaning establishment in Rutland, BC until 1982.Pauline was a perfectionist in absolutely all her endeavors! Home was “all important” to her: she excelled in cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, award winning designing and quilting (PNE/CNE) and also award winning gardening with lots of canning and preserving.  Ultimately she designed and decorated their new home built in 1968. She provided very well for her family! Special occasions were always marked with traditional treats and surprises! Another thing of huge importance was her lifelong cream pitcher collection which began in 1945 and ended with a total of 1088 pitchers – gifts and purchases coming to her from all corners of the world. They were carefully documented with who, when and where they came to her and were very much adored each and every day. “Granny” was truly a remarkable lady and we will forever cherish our memories of her. Thank you to Fernbrae Manor, Cottonwoods Care Facilty, Springfield Funeral Home and Dr. Andrew Watson in bringing the family through our challenging times over the years – The Winter Family. A private Graveside Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Weyburn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.springfieldfuneralhome.com, 250-860-7077.
