Kathie Dawn Weiss passed away peacefully on October 10, 2013 at the Weyburn General Hospital. Kathie was predeceased by her father, James Gillander; two husbands, Allan Anderson and Roland Day. Kathie was born on May 23, 1953 to James and Nadine (Wilkinson) Gillander in the RM of Glenwood of Souris, Manitoba. Kathie was actively involved in instructing Wado Kai Karate as second degree black belt. She enjoyed gardening, painting, drawing and cooking. Kathie worked at Ron's The Work Wear Store in Weyburn for 17 years. She was also an active member of the Murrey Grey Association. She was a gentle, kind spirit who will be lovingly remembered by many. Kathie is survived by her husband, Garry Weiss of Weyburn; daughter, Brie Day of Regina; son, Owen Day of Weyburn; mother, Nadine Gillander of Melita, MB; sister, Debbie (Wayne) Braun of Brandon, MB; brothers, Reid Gillander of Fort St. John, BC, David (Kui) Gillander of Yellow Knife, NWT and Tim Gillander of Melita, MB; step-daughters, Tammy (Kevin) Milne of Regina, and Ammie (Ernie) Parisien of Weyburn; mother-in-law, Myrtle Ziprick of Weyburn, as well as nieces, nephews, relatives and good friends. A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 17 at 11:00 AM from Knox Presbyterian Church, Weyburn with Reverend John Ferrier officiating. Interment took place on Friday, October 18 at Melita Cemetery, Melita, MB.
