Josephine Louise Bangsund passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2014 at the age of 92 years. Josephine was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Malina Doud; husband, Melvin Bangsund; grandsons, Scott and Blaine; sisters, Winnifred Ward, Bessie Bangsund, Ellen Doud; brother, Michael Doud and eight brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law. She was born on October 3, 1921 on the family farm. She was the fifth of eight children, with five sisters and two brothers. She took her schooling until Grade 10 at Temple School near their home, but had to board in Colgate for Grades 11 and 12. She then attended normal school in Regina. She taught for six years in various schools until she married Melvin Bangsund on October 21, 1945. Josephine and Melvin raised five children on the farm near Maxim and later in Tribune. They led full, busy lives raising their families. They were very involved in their grandchildren's lives, attending as many of the sports and musical activities as they could. They also enjoyed travelling, which often included trips to ball parks, not only major league but any fastball park where a game could be found! They enjoyed many cruises, bus tours and various other vacations. After Melvin passed away in 1985, Josephine continued to follow her grandchildren's activities whenever possible. She also enjoyed baking, knitting, gardening, playing cards, watching Blue Jay games and curling on T.V. and cooking lunch for anyone who stopped in at any time of the day. Josephine will be lovingly remembered by her children: Vickie (Darrell) Skjonsby and their family, Darren (Koreen), Kim (Dana), Leah (Don) Beam; Gwen (Sandy) Wright and their family, Nicholas (Jaimie) and Andrew (Krystin Petras); Melwyn (Patty) and their family, Heidi (Steven) Delf and Joshua (Caitlin); Tim (Esther) and their family, Matthew, Shelagh (Aaron) Eskra, Timothy (Chuong Pham) and Aubree; Lyndon and his family, Jennifer (Sean) Penny, Michelle (Garrett) Woodley and Lacey (Skylar Trobert). Josephine is also survived by 18 great grandchildren; brother, Langan Doud; sisters, Borgie Duignan and Dorothy Robillard and sister-in-law, Margaret Bangsund as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
