It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Jack Medwed on Friday, March 8, 2013. Jack was born in Weyburn on May 7, l943 to Bill and Alice Medwed. He was raised on the family farm where he helped his dad farm. Jack went to Marmoa school and then to Weyburn Collegiate. Jack also had a degree in food management from Cornwall University. Jack met his future wife in November of '64, Margaret Pope, and after a whirlwind courtship they were married April 24, 1965. They moved to the family farm for a while and then moved into Weyburn where they both worked. Jack worked for Safeway for 22 years until they closed the store, serving in every position. After the closure he went to the golf course and worked there for a few years. He went and got his 3A license and went to work for Brady's Trucking, a job he really enjoyed. Jack worked there until his first stroke in 2001. After 小蓝视频 forced into retirement, he worked his way back and started at Walmart as a greeter. He enjoyed his job there very much as he loved the staff there and enjoyed talking to all the customers. He worked up to March 7 and passed away the next morning. Jack loved golf, pool and playing cards as well as taking the odd gambling trip. Jack and Margaret were able to take a couple of cruises, one to the Caribbean and one to the Panama Canal. Jack enjoyed the cruises so much that Margaret had to drag him off the cruise ship. He spent a lot of time at the Wheatland Senior Centre where he enjoyed his pool games and bridge games. He was a member of the Wheatland Senior Centre. Jack was actively involved with Weyburn Minor Hockey, serving in all positions on the executive, as well as coaching and managing hockey teams, which he really enjoyed. Jack's greatest thrill was the arrival of their son Kevin James William. He was probably the proudest man in Weyburn. Jack loved his family very much and was proud of all of Kevin's accomplishments. As proud and thrilled as he was when Kevin arrived, he was just as excited when he became a grandfather to both his grandsons. Jack and Margaret tried to get to as many hockey games as they could go to in Medicine Hat. The boys were in Weyburn for hockey school and Grandpa was always there. Jack lived in Weyburn all his life and enjoyed all the people in Weyburn. I think most of them knew him too. Jack will be missed for his loving ways, his kindness to people and his crazy sense of humor. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and he will always be in our hearts. His family is so grateful for the extra 12 years we had with him after his first stroke. We thank God for the blessing of this extra time. Jack is predeceased by his parents, William (Bill) and Alice Medwed; father and mother-in-law, Les and Peggy Pope; brothers-in-law, Jim Pope and David Pope and Selmar Dynna. Jack will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Margaret of Weyburn; son, Kevin and grandsons, Logan and Colton all of Medicine Halt, AB; sister, Verna Dynna of Weyburn; niece, Kimberly (Guy) Johnson of Martinsville; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ross of Saskatoon; God daughter, Tracy (Lawrence) Hanson of Calgary, AB; extended family: Myrna McFadden; Norman (Rhonda) McFadden, Trevor (Lisa) McFadden, Karrie (Clay) McFadden; Tanya (Marlon) Kwochka, Tobi (Jeff) Erb, all of Weyburn; and special daughter, Sarah Reginess of Weyburn.
