Helen Winton Campbell (Dancey)

Helen Winton Campbell passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the age of 89 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Fred Dancey and Mary Yates; stepfather, Mel Yates; brother, Melvin 鈥淏uster鈥 Dancey; husband, Gordon Campbell; niece, Shannon Seymour and brother-in-law, Gordon Wilmot. Helen was born July 23, 1927 to Fred and Mary at Storthoaks, where she grew up from childhood to a young woman.聽 Helen and Gordon met and were married at the Manse at Carnduff, before making their way to Oungre, where they would settle and begin their family of four children. Gordon worked as an elevator agent and Helen was a home-maker for Gordon and the children. The family was sad to leave Oungre, but adapted quickly to their new life in Weyburn. Helen began to work at the Weyburn Union Hospital where she retired after 24 years. Helen had loved the close knit community at Oungre and maintained close ties over her lifetime with the family and friends she had made while living there. Helen and Gordon both loved to dance. Their jobs kept them for long hours at the hospital and on the road but they always found time to dance. Often they would sacrifice sleep so they could dance till 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning before getting ready for work at 5:30 a.m. Helen loved to knit and enjoyed creating sweaters for others. She also loved playing cards and hosting large family gatherings. Helen was an excellent baker, most famous for her delicious buns. Gordon was a man who had grown over the years to expect dessert after every meal and Helen tried hard not to disappoint. Both Helen and Gordon were fond of gardening together and they kept a wonderful flower garden at their house on Lorraine Street. Family was important to Helen and she was especially proud of her great grandchildren. She was blessed with a mind strong enough to keep track of everyone no matter where they were or what they were doing. Helen appreciated all who called on her to share a smile and a concern and enjoyed her time spent at card parties with her condo friends. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Linda (Cliff) Tollefson of Kenosee Lake, and their children: Chad (Tara), Brook (Cheryl) and children, Jacob and Hunter, Tiffany (Blair) and her children, Paige and Noah; daughter, Donna (Augie) George of Regina, and their children: Darcy (Amanda) and daughter, Sierra, Shawn (Tricia) and children, Brady and Neala, Jonathon (Kathy) and Jennifer and her children, Emerson and Kitson; son, Larry (Debra) Campbell of Saskatoon, and their children: Jesse and Bree (Graham); son, Danny (Maggie) Campbell of Qualicum Beach, BC and their children: Lauren, Marijke, Tyler and Jared; sister, Jean Wilmot and brother, Leonard (Bonnie) Dancey; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
