Helen Wicks passed away peacefully on Friday, May 25, 2012 at the Tatagwa Nursing Home in Weyburn, at the age of 91 years. Helen was born in Weyburn on March 1, 1921 and received her schooling in the area. On May 9, 1940, Helen married Ernest Wicks, Sr. Three months later, Ernie was shipped overseas with the 小蓝视频 Sask. Regiment. In 1942, Helen moved to Toronto, ON, where she worked as a riveter, building Lancaster Bombers. Ernie returned home in 1945 on long-term leave, and was still home when the war ended. Helen and Ernie moved to BC for a few years, returning to Saskatchewan; residing in Weyburn, Talmage, Gainsborough, Clashmoor, Peesane, Lang, Glen Ewen, Regina and Tobin Lake. They began to spend their winters in Florida until Ernie was killed in a car accident on November 22, 1978. Helen first moved to Regina and then Weyburn, becoming a Tupperware salesperson at which she had tremendous success. Helen married Harold Dyer on November 12, 1984 and moved to Harold's farm at Carlyle for a few years until they retired back to Weyburn in 1987. Helen loved to travel and see the world. She made several trips overseas, and to much of the USA. Helen was also a great supporter of the Royal Canadian Legion, serving as president of the Ladies Auxiliary for a few years until her health started failing. Helen was predeceased by her first husband Ernest Wicks, her father Louis Kaip; her mother Anne Kaip; brother Max Kaip; brothers-in-law: Peter Felner and Max Kaip; sisters Anne Kaip and Helen Kaip (in whose memory Helen was renamed.) Left to cherish her memory are her husband Harold Dyer; sisters Barb Felner and Dorothy (Albert) Gueldner; sons Ernie (Sharon) and Edward (Joyce); daughter Linda Lou; grandchildren Louise (Fred) Kowal, Glen (Lori) Wicks, Darryl (Vicki) Wicks, David (Tracy) Wicks, Joy Wicks (Gerald); 14 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, plus numerous nieces and nephews; step-family Edwin (Rita), Alvin (Yvonne), Sharon (Howard), Bruce (Bev), Marlene, Sandra (Brian), Brian (Roberta), Joanne (Bill), Keith (Sandra), Duane (Barb) and families. A memorial service will be held in the Tisdale area on September 1, 2012. Donations may be made to the Salvation Army as a token of remembrance.
