The Editor,
Yes here I am again, just like the potholes in our streets.
I see they have the contractor out again to fill holes (GREAT) but I also see the City's yellow two-wheel trailer bouncing down Highway 47 north loaded right up and spreading a very thin layer of tarred gravel behind it jumping out as they hit the holes.
It never stopped at King Street, it kept on trucking north not sure of the destination, but about an hour and a half later it was driving down McDonald Road, I guess looking for a fire. I think they must take this road as a by-pass as we have no holes to fill, it was only half full by now (this is only the fifth time that I have seen it down this street this year).
I also noticed that they have turned the lawn mowers loose one more time. I call them the paper shredders as they never pick up the paper before they cut, they either drive around it or cut it all to hell and continue on. Also, the weed wackers were out and they were cutting under the cups and paper to my surprise.
It is really a crime that these young people are learning how to work and do a good job when they do not receive any direction and no supervision either.
How is it that no one from the council is able to see all of this happening, do you people not drive around the city?
Also, if you drive down Souris Avenue south and turn left on Second Street, pay attention to the installation of the water and sewer at the first home. They filled the hole, packed it and spread a little gravel and it is supposed to stand up until paving comes. This could be this year or maybe next (the holes will chatter your teeth). This is also true at the corner of Rooney Road and Kensington Avenue when you turn right. The holes are filled and they think it will last all summer but two to three days later the holes are back bigger and better.
Until next time,
