Statement from NDP Finance Critic Trent Wotherspoon regarding jobs and schools

“Today’s jobs numbers show that there are almost 29,000 fewer jobs in Saskatchewan than this time last year and that our economy is in serious trouble.

“Today’s jobs numbers show that there are almost 29,000 fewer jobs in Saskatchewan than this time last year and that our economy is in serious trouble.

“To secure our economic recovery and get people back to work, we need a real plan to reopen schools safely and keep them open.

“The Sask. Party’s plan for our schools is a plan to fail. If we’re to have any hope of successfully reopening our economy, we need to ensure we have smaller class sizes, clear guidance on mask use and dedicated funding from the provincial government to keep our schools open and keep our kids safe.

“Saskatchewan people need and deserve an economic recovery that works for them and puts them to work. It is a time for actions to fire up our economy and to create jobs to secure that recovery by scrapping the PST on construction labour, implementing SaskFirst procurement on public projects and implementing Renew Saskatchewan to create thousands of jobs, reduce power bills and cut emissions with affordable, sustainable renewable power like rooftop solar.“
