Dear Editor:
I am writing in regard to the town's explanation about our streets and gutters. I or any of the neighbors I talked to did not have a vote on what type of curbs we wanted. It is a total disgrace the way our streets were put in and narrowed up. One way traffic when someone is parked on the street.
It seems to be a major truck route in our area. We have students that have to walk to school on our streets. Our curbs are laying on lawns.
Can you imagine what six foot sections of rubber curbs would look like after the trucks and people parking next to them would look like after a year. We have pavement under our lawns, when it is a dry year all our lawns are yellow next to the curbs. Our driveways and lawns are sinking and I for one, am not prepared to raise them again until we have a permanent street and gutter replaced.
I shoveled a spot on the street for our garbage can to sit and the garbage truck could not pick it up . It was too low and he had to get out and raise our garbage can to pick it up.
I, for one, would vote for the rounded curb and the street made wider.
