Alida news – fire ban now in effect

There is a fire ban in effect now for the Village of Alida and the R.M. of Reciprocity. It is so dry that any little spark could become very serious. Please take care out there and stay safe.

I do hope you had a great break and a wonderful Easter long weekend. Also hope that the Easter bunny found his way to your house. As for us, it was a great Sunday where we enjoyed a great feast with some family members. Even the weather was very co-operative, not too hot or cold, just nice to enjoy СÀ¶ÊÓƵ outdoors for a while.

The Alida Rec. Board members are planning another fundraiser – of course with COVID restrictions keeping everyone apart. They are going to try an online auction. The funds will go to support the expenses of the facilities in the community. Donated items are СÀ¶ÊÓƵ collected, photographed and posted on Facebook in the online event. Bidding will start April 9 at 9 a.m. and end April 11 at 9 p.m. and the board will award the item to the highest bidder at that point.

One can make payment by e-transfers or cash. Pickup can be arranged during specified times (1-4 p.m. or 7-9 p.m.) on April 13 or 14 at the community rink.

Happy birthday to the following who have celebrated their birthday in April and also to those who will celebrate this coming week – Steven Bendtsen, Alexis Fuller, Katrina Ramsey, Hailey Kendall, Dale Anthony, Colby Potapinski, Linda Potapinski, Trisha Schulhauser, Calvin Hull and Larry Jensen. Hope you all had/have a great day.

Just a reminder that we are still busy at the library, trying to get rid of some of the books – if you’re interesting in picking up some reading material, please contact either Eleanor Harrison or myself and we’ll make some arrangements to meet with you.

Please remember folks to keep me posted whenever you have news – simply contact me anytime, either call me at 306-443-2496, text 306-485-8561 or e-mail [email protected]on the happenings that are going on in and around Alida as well as within your own family circle.

I will see that your news gets into a paper.

As we keep moving slowly forward do continue to keep a safe distance and wear your mask and stay safe.  I do appreciate all your input as it does help keep this column interesting.
