Judging is a skill encouraged for all 4-H members regardless of their livestock background. Members from across Saskatchewan can choose a region to participate in Regional Judging no matter what 4-H project they participate in.
Local 4-H clubs sent 50 competitors aged six to 21 to the Regional 4-H Judging hosted by Weyburn Ag Society on July 3 during the Weyburn Fair. This year there were also 10 members from Ontario through a 4-H youth exchange program in attendance with this event.
Members judged bred heifers, bull calves, light horses, alpacas, and a mystery class of fitted calves. Official judges for this event were Diana Sambrook-Tosczak, who judged bred heifers, Calli Benko who judged light horses, Wacey McCaw who judged bull calves, Glenda Shotter who judged alpacas, and Chance Jackson, who judged the fitted calves.
Beef stock were supplied by volunteers attending the Weyburn fair. Light horses were supplied by Sandy Stewart and Janet Guest, and alpacas were supplied by Glenda Shotter.
