Roger Huber operated the Roger Service Rig company, and was a big part of the patch in the southeast for many years. He died in a workplace accident Monday at the age of 74.

People gathered to say good-bye to Huber while respecting social distancing. A formal service couldn't be held due to the current pandemic.聽

Many more people watched the memorial from the highway.

Huber's first rig was fired up and raised. People who watched honked their horns afterwards. His children were on the rig as it was raised.聽

Since the accident, many tributes have been coming in honour of Huber and what he meant to the community and the oilpatch in southeast Saskatchewan. Many of them have been from those who worked with him in the patch, but others are non-oilfield workers.聽

鈥淚f you knew Roger Service Rig, you knew Roger," states his obituary. "One of a kind with a heart as big as they come and a vocabulary to match. He will be remembered by many, many friends, fellow workers and employees. He truly was one of a kind. We love you and will miss you dearly.鈥
