鈥淥ur food has a story and Agriculture Literacy Month allows students to hear that story first hand from producers,鈥 Agriculture Minister David Marit said.聽 鈥淚t is important that our children and grandchildren receive accurate information about the work done by our agriculture industry straight from the experts.鈥
This year鈥檚 theme is technology, which will teach students about development, uses and the importance of innovation on modern farms and ranches.
鈥淎griculture has always been, and continues to be, a significant part of the province,鈥 Deputy Premier and Education Minister Gordon Wyant said.聽 鈥淥ur government supports classroom opportunities for Saskatchewan students to learn about agriculture and its contribution to our province.鈥
鈥淭here are so many myths and misconceptions about food and agriculture today, it is difficult for people to know what to believe,鈥 Agriculture in the Classroom Executive Director Sara Shymko said.聽 鈥淭he classroom visits with real people working in the industry are so important because they give students a chance to ask questions and have them answered honestly and openly.鈥
