The Assiniboia and District Multiple 4-H Club held its Achievement Day on Sunday, August 13 at the Assiniboia Agriplex. The day started with a demonstration from the members of the Archery Project. The members shot at several targets that included balloons and a watermelon. In the next event, the members of the Rabbit Project brought out their animals and demonstrated some of the skills and tricks that they had taught their animals.
The audience was then treated to a slideshow highlighting the many photos taken by the talented members of the Photography Project. Focus was then brought back to the show ring. The members with their dogs from the Canine Project demonstrated their dog鈥檚 handling and obedience skills. After a brief lunch break, the day wrapped up with members of the Light Horse Project showing their horses in halter and trail classes.
The Achievement Day was the first since the club reorganized in 2016. For its first year, the club had 14 members ranging in age from six to 17 years old. The members took part in several activities and fundraising efforts throughout the year, including a bottle drive, public speaking competitions, barbecues and decorating a float for the Canada Day parade.
The club鈥檚 first meeting and registration night will be held on October 2 at 7 p.m. at the Assiniboia Kin Hut.
