The Skate-A-Thon took over Carlyle Sports Arena on Nov. 27 to raise more than $1,800.
The Skate-A-Thon, which raises money for the Carlyle Skating Club, is intended to provide a couple of fun-filled hours of free skating for the kids, friends and family members of the skating club.
More than 50 skaters took to the ice this year, spending from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the ice playing games, practicing their spins and jumps, or just enjoying each other's company.
The money raised this year is anticipated to go towards new carnival decorations. Those club members that raised money were able to have their names entered to win prizes.
Winners of this year's prizes, which included two draws for the 10-and-over age category, were Brittany Rowe who took home a $50 gift certificate from Kings Department Store and Kacey Valentine who was the winner of a JUST DANCE Wii game.
The draw for the nine-and-under boys category saw Logan Romaniuk win a Hockey Passer, while the winner of the girls category was Ashley Foster who took home a Tinkerbell DS game.
Ashley Foster also won the grand prize which was a big neon green bean bag chair.
Organizers of this year's Skate-A-Thon were Sheila Menard, Yvonne Pylatiuk, Cheryl Newell and Jerri Lenius. The committee thanked "all the people who pledged our skaters as well as the volunteers and rink help that makes it possible."
