Six members of the Estevan Raiders broomball team competed in the male side of the 2011 Juvenile National Broomball Championship held March 29-April 2 in Portage la Prairie, Man.
Dusty Schlamp, Brady Schlamp, Brayden Tuchscherer and Donovan Gibson all suited up for the Odessa Bandits, while Riley Brennan and James Chamney played for the Bruno Axemen.
The Bandits earned bronze in the A playoffs on a dramatic overtime goal by Dusty Schlamp.
Odessa had posted a 4-1 record in round-robin play but lost a tight battle in their semifinal to drop to the bronze medal game.
Schlamp, a defenceman, was also named to the tournament first all-star team after posting a goal and five assists in seven games.
Brady Schlamp had three goals and a helper in the tournament, while Tuchscherer and Gibson were held pointless.
The Axemen, meanwhile, claimed silver on the B side after losing to Quebec-based Chums du Blitz in the final.
Chamney, a forward, and Brennan, a defender, were each held off the scoresheet for the Axemen.
