Ryan Murray brings the Stanley Cup to White City

Winning Colorado Avalanche player spent his day with the Stanley Cup at home in White City.

WHITE CITY — It was an exciting day for residents of White City as they lined up to get a photo with the Stanley Cup.

Colorado Avalanche defenceman Ryan Murray brought the revered trophy to his home community on Thursday. Every member of the Avalanche is able to have their "day with the cup," and Murray opted to spend his day with fans outside Communiskate, a facility in White City/Emerald Park where Murray played minor hockey.

Between 1:30 and 3 p.m., fans packed a long lineup outside Communiskate to get photos with Murray and the cup. There were pother activities on hand as well, including a "hardest shot" completion as well as food and drinks. A free skate was planned for Communiskate in the afternoon.

This was the second day in a row that the Cup was in Saskatchewan. On Wednesday the Cup was in Prince Albert with Josh Manson, and on Friday the plan is for the Cup to be in Saskatoon with goalie Darcy Kuemper.
