Russian team to play Weyburn girls

The Weyburn Bantam McDonalds Angels girl's hockey team will have the opportunity to play with international competitors on December 16. A female team from Russia will join the Angels at Crescent Point Place at 7 p.m.

The Weyburn Bantam McDonalds Angels girl's hockey team will have the opportunity to play with international competitors on December 16. A female team from Russia will join the Angels at Crescent Point Place at 7 p.m. in order to gain some experience traveling and playing with a Canadian team.

The Russian team will also be playing against other teams in the 小蓝视频 Saskatchewan Female Hockey League Bantam "A" division during their trip. The Moscow Atlant will be playing nine games during their 14-day stay in Saskatchewan.

The 15-girl team will be staying overnight at the homes of the Angels players during their stay in Weyburn. The girls will be travelling with five coaching staff and an interpreter.

"I think the girls are more excited to meet and have a sleepover rather than play against them," laughed assistant coach and Angels team manager Russ Scharnatta.

Athletes in Action Canada was instrumental in coordinating the girls' trip from Russia, according to Scharnatta.

The game is open to the public and tickets can be purchased at Hoiums MVP, Andrews Agencies, Weyburn Comprehensive School and at the door for $6. Children under-13 and accompanied by an adult can attend for free.

The Angels coaching staff also includes head coach Wes Cugnet and assistant coach Tanya Kwochka.
