In the Wings' first game of the week they hosted their highway 39 rivals from Estevan and won a tough battle 6-4 on December 6. Each team scored once in the first period. Scoring for Weyburn was Brayden Leslie on a great effort with a goal unassisted. In the second period, Weyburn was able to add two more goals while only surrendering one and led 3-2 after forty minutes. Scoring again in the second for the Wings was Leslie assisted by Lance Tendler and Cole Sjostrand. Weyburn's other goal of the period was scored unassisted by Cole Sjostrand. The third period was a tough battle with both teams having momentum swings and vying for the win, but the Wings would not be denied as they out-scored the Bruins 3-2 in the third to take the first game between the two teams this season. Goals for Weyburn in the third were scored by Kyle Mryglod, assisted by Brayden Ganson and Terrick Wilderman, Kyle Crozier from Donovan Lumb and Lance Tendler and rounding it out was Kyle Mryglod, with assists from Cole Sjostrand and Carson Szczecinski. Terrick Wilderman continued his strong play in net picking up the win.
On Thursday the Wings took their show on the road and played the Regina Wild, Regina came out on top with a 4-3 win, the Wings had a good first period and led the game 2-1 after one period on goals from Donovan Lumb, with assists from Lance Tendler and Cole Sjostrand , and Cole Sjostrand with assists from Tucker Neuberger and Donovan Lumb. The second period was a rough one for the Wings which saw them get outscored 3-0 and fall behind 4-2. The third period saw the Wings score once and try hard to even the score but one was all they could get. Donvan Lumb scored with Cole Sjostrand and Tucker Neuberger assisting, Billy Cuthbert and Wilderman both saw time in net with Cuthbert taking the loss.
On Saturday evening the Wings hosted Lumsden at Crescent Point Place, first off the teams had to settle the final 53 seconds of a game played November 5th between the teams that was decided after Weyburn disputed the ruling a penalty that was not handled properly, the dispute paid off as the league and SHA decided that Weyburn had a legitimate protest. The clock was set for 53 seconds with the Wings down 5-4 and Lumsden short one player due to a penalty. The Wings took the face off and got the puck in Lumsden's end and pulled their goalie for a two man advantage. Off of a draw the Wings put the puck to the front of the net and pushed the puck past the goaltender to tie the game. The final 25 seconds of the clock ticked off and the teams ended with a 5-5 tie. Scoring the tying goal for Weyburn was Kyle Crozier with assists to Braden Rood and Braden Mellon. The teams took a minute to regroup before starting the regularly scheduled game which also ended in a draw. The two teams battled two a 2-2 tie in a hard fought entertaining game scoring goals for the Wings Dan Watson unassisted and Donovan Lumb with Tucker Neuberger assisting. Terrick Wilderman picked up the Ties for both games.
The Wings rounded out the week with a visit from the Pipestone Valley Jets on Sunday night and although the Jets put up a good effort in the first period Weyburn took the lead 1-0 after the first period, Braden Mellon scored with assists to Kolten Cleasby and Dan Watson. In the second period the Wings scored two more times while keeping their opponents off of the score sheet, Cole Sjostrand scored the first goal of the period with the help of Tucker Neuberger. The second goal of the period was scored by Jacob Eger, with assists from Neuberger and Donovan Lumb. In the Third Period the Wings put their foot on the pedal and put the puck in the back of the net four more times, while keeping the Jets off the board, and completing a 7-0 shutout. Scoring Goals in the third were Kolten Cleasby with two in a row, assisting on the first was Jack Carleton and Braden Rood, and Braden Mellon picked up the lone assist on Cleasby's second. Donovan Lumb followed Cleasby's lead and picked up the final two goals of the game with Sjostrand and Neuberger and Neuberger also got the lone assist on the final goal. The Wings out shot the Jets 48 to 30 in the contest, Billy Cuthbert got the shut out win in net for Weyburn. Next action for the Wings will be Thursday when they will travel to Regina for a battle with the Capitals.
