The Sherritt Coal peewee AA Bruins fell in game three to the Moose Jaw Warriors in a 5-4 overtime defeat.
The fifth place Bruins and fourth place Warriors were tied one-game all in the best-of-three series before the March 7 loss, knocking them out of any further league playoff action.
The Bruins started well enough in the first period, opening the scoring with a goal by Matt Bill at the 10:46 mark. Peyton Stevenson followed that up with a power play goal with three-and-a-half minutes left, giving the Bruins 2-0 lead heading into the second.
The Bruins continued to apply pressure at the start of the second and their power play continued to click as Stevenson scored his second power play tally of the night.
Moose Jaw would get their first goal past goaltender Carter Phair nine minutes into the second period.
Nearing the end of the period, the Warriors closed the lead to within one, scoring with 14 seconds left and sending the teams to their respective dressing rooms with the Bruins leading 3-2.
Stevenson came out in the third and gave the Bruins their two-goal advantage back when he potted his third of the game five minutes into the period.
With the 4-2 lead, the Bruins had to hang on for the next 15 minutes, but the Warriors were too much. At 11:45 of the final period the Warriors once again made it a one-goal game, before tying it up at 4-4 about five minutes later.
For the last seven minutes, neither team could get the bounce they needed for the go-ahead goal and the game went into overtime.
After exchanging penalties in the overtime period, the Warriors found the back of the net 15 minutes into OT, winning the game and the series.
