Great turn out for the Moose Mountain Lions Club annual golf tournament.

The Moose Mountain Lions Club held their annual golf tournament this past weekend with a record crowd in attendance.

Lions secretary Ainsley Sauter was very pleased with how the day turned out.

“Despite having 157 golfers out, the tournament went off without a hitch. Our Lions Club wishes to thank Golf Kenosee and Club 19 for the great hospitality,” said Sauter. “Thank-you to all of our golfers, sponsors and volunteers that helped make this annual event a huge success.”

In conjunction with the tournament, a draw was also made for a refurbished 1973 Harley Davidson Golf Cart. The lucky winner was Jordan Botteneau.

Profits from both these projects will be used to continue the Lions’ work on securing and refurbishing additional green space to the Kenosee Lake area. The Moose Mountain Lions Club was formed in 2010 and presently has 17 members. The Club president is Stu Balfour. Barb Swanson is the treasurer.

On a more somber note, Ainsley extended sympathy to Dale Orsted, owner of the Moosehead Inn that burned to the ground the night before the tournament. “It’s so sad to see an important business of Kenosee Lake leave us. Thankfully there were no injuries and thank-you to all of the firefighters that helped extinguish the blaze, many of whom were golfing in our tournament.”
