You'd never know that Amanda Minchin hadn't been able to tee off at her home course all summer.
The Estevan Woodlawn Golf Club assistant pro won her first provincial Zone PGA Championship last Wednesday in Swift Current.
Minchin shot a 72 on the last day of the 54-hole tournament to take the honours of top female finisher and 18th overall.
Her first two rounds were 81 and 74, for a three-day total of 227.
"I haven't played well for the last year or so, so this was good," Minchin said.
Woodlawn head pro Brian Dueck was 10th overall, shooting rounds of 74, 70 and 78, the latter coming on a rainy final day.
For the men, the event serves as a provincial qualifier for the National Club Pro and Assistants Championship,
"For us, it's basically our Saskatchewan championship," said Minchin, who is in her third year as a CPGA pro.
She said experiencing the damage at Woodlawn this summer actually helped her in Swift Current.
"It definitely was different. I haven't practiced a lot or played a lot. But it was nice to be away for four days, not ripping out drywall. There wasn't a lot of preparation," she commented.
"I definitely surprised myself a little bit. It helped mentally that it was nice to get away and not think about (the destruction)."
John Greenough of Regina's Deer Valley Golf and Estates was the top overall finisher, posting a 54-hole total of 205, including a scorching 61 on the first day.
