Long-time physical education teacher and coach Wanda Pegg will be leaving the Weyburn Comprehensive School (WCS) after nearly 30 years this fall.

Pegg began at the Comp in 1982 and will be retiring at the end of the school year. She said she will miss the interaction with the students more than anything.

"They keep you young," Pegg explained. "You begin to feel their age because they bring across their energy."

Pegg said she will also miss sharing her passion for fitness with her students. She has coached a variety of sports during her career at WCS, including senior girls' volleyball, senior boys' and girls' basketball, and cross-country running. She has coached track and field since she began at WCS; this was the first season that Pegg did not coach the group.

Principal Wade Oberg presented Pegg with a Super Block W at the school's annual Activity Awards on June 13. He said the award that recognizes activity involvement was more than deserved by the teacher.

"She put in a lot of extracurricular hours with our students," said Oberg. "She was really willing to put the time and energy into our kids."

Oberg said that the teacher and coach was always devoted to the wellСÀ¶ÊÓƵ of her students and that she will be hard to replace.
