The Northern Late Models Racing circuit took to the Estevan oval last Tuesday to put on a fast and thrilling show for local race fans.
The sleek cars glided effortlessly around the corners at the Estevan Motor Speedway for three heats before heading to a 30-lap feature, with 19 cars in the lineup.
The late models were the headliners on the night, and no wrecks were to be seen during the lengthy feature.
Ed Turnbull drove a late model as the lone Estevan representative in the race, and Kody Scholpp, of Lampman raced in a late model as well.
Most of the other drivers were from various parts of North Dakota and Manitoba.
Turnbull started in fourth but slid back to a 10th-place finish, while Scholpp was 17th.
Zach Johnson of Kensington, Mont., won the late model feature, with Brad Seng (Grand Forks, N.D.) and Joel Cyderman (Thunder Bay, Ont.) rounding out the top three.
Heat winners were Johnson, Mike Balcaen (Winnipeg) and Corey Seckerson (Jamestown, N.D.).
The Speedway also ran its regular race program Tuesday. Estevan's Aaron Turnbull continued his white-hot stretch with his fourth win in the last five modified features at EMS.
Season leader Devin Raynard finished sixth to keep a tight grip on top spot heading into Championship Night tonight.
With Raynard leading by 20 points, Turnbull needs a miracle to wrest the title from his grasp.
Turnbull likely needs a win and an early withdrawal from Raynard to have a chance.
Tyson Turnbull finished second last week and is third in the standings, 30 points out.
Justin Medler won his second hobby feature of the year. Three drivers enter tonight's race with a shot at the season title - Tyler Thompson leads Cory Evans by two points and Gary Goudy Jr. by six.
Minot's Randy Conway earned his second straight street stock feature win last week. That race comes down to a five-point gap between defending champ Rocky Alexander and Robby Rosselli.
Tonight's program begins at 7:30 p.m.
