The Junior Rebs ventured to Saskatoon on Saturday, December 7 to meet and greet the Quakers in the Rod Hamm Arena in the city arena on Fletcher Road. But Assiniboia left Saskatoon on the bus in a grey cloud after getting thumped with 0-13 downer.
The Rebels continued the next day to the Delisle Arena in the town a half hour southwest of Saskatoon for a scrap with the Chiefs on a Sunday afternoon. The Rebels started this game on the right foot after Dawson Diekrager sent one through the twines at 10:13 with help from Alex Hicks. Thereafter, the Chiefs quickly controlled the game from 9:24 and throughout the second period, when the Chiefs couldn’t appear to stop scoring. The game continued to lean Delisle’s way until the third period, when Dawson Duff slammed the puck in for Assiniboia at 16:23, assisted by Tyde Hutchinson. But offensives for the Rebels had remained in a downward spiral since Saskatoon. In Delisle, Assiniboia managed 22 shots on net, versus the Chiefs, who were much stronger in play with 47 shots. The end result; another 13-point setback for the opposing team, with the Rebels only notching two goals. Â
The Rebels have a probability of changing their fortunes in three home games coming this week. After Wednesday’s game with Fort Knox on December 11, the Rebels will have a busy weekend ahead in the Assiniboia Civic Centre Arena. The Rebels will host the Capitals on Saturday, December 14 at 7:30 p.m. Then the Rebels are scheduled for another home game on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. where they will have another go with the Delisle Chiefs on December 15.  Also, don’t miss the Annual Mattson Memorial Game when the Junior Rebels play the Seniors on Saturday, December 21 with the puck dropping at 7:30 p.m.       Â
