The Carlyle 10 & unders have started off the New Year on a high note. Carlyle played two away games on the weekend of Jan.8,9th and came away with back to back wins against Oxbow and Redvers.
Jan. 15th was Carlyle Minor Hockey Day and this day seen the two Carlyle teams come head to head. Carlyle (Wade) was the first to put a point on the score board but our Nathan Bye was quick to respond. Aaron Chapman scored a beautiful goal with his hard wrist shot and Makenna Morrison found the top corner to end the first period tied at 3. Carlyle (Dwayne) scored two goals in the second period. Our first goal in the period by Jace Fisher showed everyone how importatnt speed and puck control is in the game. Easton Bitternose's move from defence to forward was a success as he managed to tie the game at 5-5 ending the second period. Easton Bitternose had help with his goal from Kyle Bye who's confidence this game came from the teams two prior games in which Kyle managed 3 goals. The third period seen Carlyle (Dwayne) come on strong. Devon Sanders made a beautiful glove save to help hold Carlyle (Wade) at 5. Raine Smith showed not only is she strong on the blue line but has no trouble rushing with the puck to set up plays. Karli Colpitts rush to the net in the third was successful and Carlyle (Dwayne) came away with a 8-5 win. A.P. Tyler Colpitts stepped up to help our team as a defensmen and once again had no troulble holding his own on the blue line.
