Estevan Bruins forwards Tanner Froese and Matt Brykaliuk have earned a major accolade with only one game of SJHL experience between them.

Both 1993-born forwards attended the Team West evaluation camp for this year's World Junior A Challenge.

The camp was held Sunday through Tuesday in Canmore, Alta.

Bruins director of player personnel Rick Oakes is in charge of selecting SJHL players to attend the camp.

"I think the big thing with Tanner is he's a big strong guy. He skates well, shoots the puck well and goes to those tough areas. Those guys are important in a short tournament like the World Junior A Challenge," Oakes said.

Brykaliuk's addition to the roster was announced later.

"Brykaliuk was a late addition and I think it was the strength of his play over the last few games," said Bruins head coach and general manager Keith Cassidy.

Oakes agreed that Brykaliuk's performance in exhibition games was the tipping point.

"Matt's play thus far in pre-season has pretty much spoken for itself. I thought he could go out to the camp and make an impression. He's a dynamic player with great speed and finish and he does a lot of things well."

Oakes said he feels both players have a shot at making the roster, though perhaps not in the roles they're accustomed to.
