Fillmore鈥檚 Rod Boll to be inducted to Sask. Sports Hall of Fame

The Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame announced eight new inductees as the Class of 2021, including Fillmore鈥檚 Rod Boll, who was an Olympic trapshooter and Canadian champion.

The Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame announced eight new inductees as the Class of 2021, including Fillmore鈥檚 Rod Boll, who was an Olympic trapshooter and Canadian champion.

The Class of 2021 includes five athlete inductees, one in the builder category and two teams, including the 2013 Saskatchewan Roughriders Grey Cup champions, and the 2000-01 University of Regina Cougars Women鈥檚 Basketball Team, also national champions.

The class had originally been selected in 2020, but the induction ceremonies were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Sports Hall of Fame board has determined at this time there will not be an induction 小蓝视频 until the ceremonies can be held in public following all provincial guidelines.

Boll represented Canada at the 1996 Olympic Summer Games in Atlanta, Ga., where he tied for 19th with a score of 130 out of 150 in the men鈥檚 double trap competition, as the double trap made its Olympic debut.

He was a team member of the Canadian National 鈥楢鈥 team from 1993 to 2005, won a team gold and individual bronze at the Pan-American Games in Beunos Aires in 1995, and he won four gold, one silver and five bronze ISSF medals.

In the World Cup for trapshooting, Boll won an individual gold and team silver in Cuba in 1994; team bronze in Lima, Peru, in 1995; and individual bronze in Lima in 1996. In World Cup finals, he came home with bronze in Monticatini, Italy, in 1996, and at the Championships of the Americas, he won bronze in Puerto Rico in 2005.

At the Canadian International Trapshooting Championship, he won gold in double trap four times, in 1995, 2000, 2004 and 2006; four silver medals, in 1994, 1996, 1997 and 1998; and four bronze medals, in 1993, 1999, 2001 and 2002.

Boll won 23 major championships with the Canadian Trapshooting Association, and is one of only two shooters to win the 鈥淏ig Five鈥, which includes singles, doubles, handicap, high all around and high overall at the CTA Championship since its inception in 1956.

He was also the high overall champion five times, in 1981, 1983, 1984, 1986 and 1991, and was the high all-around champion seven times, in 1981, 1982, 1984, 1985, 1988, 1990 and 1991.

In the North American Style Trap, in the Amateur Trapshooting Association, he won the 1988 Champion of Champions with a record score, and won six titles, finished second three times and third once.

At the Saskatchewan International Trap Championships, Boll won gold in double trap in 1993 and 2005, and in single trap, he won silver in 1990, bronze in 1979, 1983 and 1989.

Boll also won 47 different championships with the Saskatchewan Amateur Trap Association, was the high overall champion 11 times, an the high all-around champion seven times.

At the Western Canada Summer Games, he won the gold medal in 1979, silver medal in 1983, and the bronze medal in 1990, when he was the team captain.
