Eight year old Matthew Soles was first in line to have his Rider's jersey autographed by Saskatchewan Roughrider "greats" Q.B. Darion Durant, S.B. Chris Getzlaf and S.B. Weston Dressler at the Weyburn Co-op Food Store Sunday afternoon. The Roughriders and the Co-op are helping Weyburn Minor Football raise funds for their new football field.

Weyburn played host to Football 101 on May 21 and 123 very excited women from Weyburn, Regina, Estevan, Red Deer, Three Hills Alberta and Newbrook Alberta spent the day learning the basics of CFL football. Nine members of the Saskatchewan Roughrider football club including Darian Durant, Weston Dressler and Mike McCullough taught the women through classroom and interactive sessions. Along with the players, the Riders trainer and equipment manager gave the women an inside look at what it takes to keep the team healthy and the types of equipment used. A few women were even brave enough to try on those tight pants! Women who attended the event said it was a total blast, an experience they will never forget, and an exciting opportunity to learn more about the game from the players themselves. Players in attendance said they were impressed with the level of knowledge the women already had and that they enjoyed the interaction and enthusiasm of the participants. Typically, Football 101 is held in Regina, however, the fan base in Weyburn and history of successful Rider Pride events in the community inspired the Roughriders organization to give Weyburn the opportunity to host. The event was considered a huge success by both the organizers and the Saskatchewan Roughriders football club. The presenting sponsor of Football 101 was Weyburn, Stoughton, Pangman and Baubeer CO-OP. The organizers commented that it was with the support of the CO-OP and other local sponsors that the event was such a success. All profits from the event will be donated to the Chris Knox Foundation.

Pump Jacks Saloon and Steak House hosted the Riders after the event for "Happy Hour with the Riders". This was an opportunity for people who could not attend the "ladies only" Football 101 to have a chance to meet the players. Many member of the community took advantage of the opportunity to wish the players luck on the upcoming season and to get a photograph taken with them.

The Weyburn CO-OP food store hosted a Rider Pride family BBQ on May 22, with special guests Darian Durant, Chris Getzlaf, and Weston Dressler. The proceeds of the event went to support Weyburn Minor Football and many young rider fans were in attendance.
