Graham DeLaet will be playing in his second Professional Golf Association (PGA) Tour of the season starting this Thursday, Jan. 26, while competing at the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego, California.
Already, DeLaet returned to competitive golf by competing in the Sony Open. Returning after rehabilitating from a herniated disc, DeLaet said, "The time off was definitely needed."
"I wasn't really sure how I would hold up over four tournament rounds, but I felt great. Very happy to be back on Tour."
DeLaet had a strong start at the Sony Open, leading after round one. "I'm really pleased with the way my first round went and how the entire tournament went, generally. I wasn't hitting great off the tee on that first day but my approaches were solid as was my putting. And my chip in for eagle also helped."
The first round also marked the 100th round of competing in the PGA Tour for DeLaet. "It's not something you really think about. But it's obviously very special to be able to play week in and week out on the PGA Tour."
DeLaet finished the Sony Open tied for 29th. He remarked on his performance during the other rounds at the event. "Like my first round, I just wasn't hitting it great off the tee. In my first round I had some great putts that contributed to going low, but those just weren't dropping in my second round."
Overall, after returning to the PGA Tour with nearly a year off from competitive golf, DeLaet said, "I feel great. My most memorable moment was standing on the first tee."
