DeLaet ties course record, ties 31st at Reno-Tahoe

A course record at the Reno-Tahoe Open was tied by Graham DeLaet, former Weyburn resident, as he took his lowest round so far during his rookie season on the Professional Golf Association (PGA) tour.

A course record at the Reno-Tahoe Open was tied by Graham DeLaet, former Weyburn resident, as he took his lowest round so far during his rookie season on the Professional Golf Association (PGA) tour.DeLaet split his four rounds, scoring two under-par and two-over par, for a total score of 286. His final score was two-under-par at the Reno-Tahoe Open, and allowed him to tie for 31st. For his first round, DeLaet had a strong start on the front nine by securing three birdies. Then in the back nine, he shot two birdies and one birdie to end the day at 70, two-under-par. He ended his first round only four shots behind the leader.Then after running into difficulties in the second round, DeLaet fell down the leaderboard. He had a total of five bogies and one birdie to score a 76, four-over-par. With a two round total of over-par by two shots, DeLaet made the cut by one.Things turned around in a positive way for DeLaet during round three, when he tied the course record of 62, 10-under-par. The round brought Graham up to third place on the leaderboard during that round.During the front nine, DeLaet secured five birdies in a row, then captured another birdie on the ninth hole. Then on the back nine, he shot one birdie on the 13th hole, and finished strong with three birdies in a row. Finishing at the Reno-Tahoe Open on the fourth round, DeLaet had difficulties again, this time with double bogeys. For the round DeLaet had three birdies, three bogeys and three double bogeys to finish at 78, six-over-par. It had been the only round at the Reno-Tahoe Open where he shot double bogeys.To date, DeLaets has made ten cuts during his rookie year on the PGA Tour. He has earned $577,912 and is currently placed 108th on the FedExCup.Next on the Tour for Graham will be the RBC Canadian Open which runs July 22 to 25 in Ontario. After this event, there are two more tournaments before the PGA Championships.
