Story:The Bantam Cougars entered league play offs facing the Oxbow Jr. Huskies. Game #1 was played on home ice Feb.28th. The Cougars struck first with an early goal from Brayden Starr assisted by Kirkland Chalus and Drake Smith. Mid way through the period Masen Big Eagle netted the Cougars second goal using his powerful slap shot from the blue line. The Huskies were able to answer back about a minute later keeping the Cougars to a one goal lead. Second period saw the Cougars continue to play well with three unanswered goals coming off the sticks of Luke McCrimmon, Jack Easton and Riley Smith. These were assisted by Evan Anderson with a pair, Drake Smith and Brayden Starr. Third period the Cougars added another two points to the board from Brett Turgeon assisted by Starr, and Starr with his second of the game with help from Turgeon and Bailey Stigings. Jodi Black was solid in the Cougar cage ending the game 7-1.
Game #2 of the best of three series was back in Oxbow on Mar.1st. The Huskies played hard this game trying to keep the series alive. The home team put the first two points on the board before Carlyle answered back with 5:24 remaining in the period from Brett Turgeon and again with 1:24 left on the clock from Evan Anderson assisted by Starr and Turgeon. Second period saw the Cougars step up their game notching four goals to Oxbow's two. Kirkland Chalus found the back of the net with help from Turgeon, Shaw scored a pair also assisted by Turgeon and Turgeon netted the fourth. Third period the Cougars continued their offensive drive with help from Walker Hengen who played aggressively along the boards and digging in the corners. Carlyle added seven to the score this period, 4 from Marc Shaw, a pair from Evan Anderson and a single from Drake Smith, assists going to Turgeon with 2, Brayden Starr, Drake Smith and Luke McCrimmon.
This game clinched the series for the Cougars and they will be heading into the semi finals this week.
