Estevan Bruins crush Nipawin
The Eagle Drilling Estevan Bruins got off to an excellent start on their current three game road trip. The Bruins marched into Nipawin last night and trounced the Hawks 7-2.
After a scoreless first period, Estevan's offence came alive in the second as they torched the Hawks for six goals. Ben Findlay got things started on the power play just 2:53 into the frame with his 11th of the season.
Josh Jelinski, Matt Dochylo, Jonathan Ceci, Cole Olson and Mark Cross each bulged the twine in the second as well for the Bruins. Nipawin also managed to score two of their own in the period, and trailed 6-2 to start the third.
In an effort to change the flow of the game, the Hawks decided to make a goaltending change in the final frame, but it was too little, too late as Troy Hunter added one more for Estevan with just under five minutes to play, to give the visitors the 7-2 victory.
The Bruins continue their road trip tonight in Melfort, before wrapping it up in Humboldt on Thursday. They will be back at home on Saturday to host the Notre Dame Hounds at the Civic. Puck drop is 7:30 p.m.
