The Nipawin Hawks scored four times in the third period to break out of a slump with a 7-4 victory over the Estevan Bruins on Saturday at Spectra Place.
Brady Zerr, Stuart Holland and Darius Cole all starred with a pair of goals for the Hawks, who led 2-1 after the first period before seeing the Bruins tie it 3-3 after two.
Zerr opened the scoring at 4:27 off a feed from former Bruin Jesse Bernard, who finally picked up his first point of the year in his 25th game. Barely a minute later, defenceman Keenan Martens rushed the puck himself and beat Derek Tendler blocker side from the blueline.
Estevan got on the board on a Calder Neufeld power play goal from the right circle at 13:50.
The Bruins would take their first lead with two quick goals late in the second period. First, a Dominic Perrault point shot was blocked and bounced directly to Dylan Smith, who cashed in an easy goal.
Less than two minutes later, Tyler Kauk set up Michael Hengen with a stretch pass and Hengen found the net high to the left side.
But Holland would score a crucial goal from the right circle just 12 seconds later to tie the game after two periods and give the Hawks something to build on.
Cole scored twice in the third period, including a highlight-reel effort with 71 seconds to play, and Zerr and Holland each added their second of the game. Matt Brykaliuk scored for the Bruins with four minutes left.
The Hawks outshot the Bruins 23-19.
