With SJHL cards СÀ¶ÊÓƵ issued on Tuesday, the Estevan Bruins have begun to sign some of their impressive stable of talent in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
Head coach Keith Cassidy was in Manitoba this week to speak with several listed prospects.
The Bruins have locked up 1993-born defenceman Tyler Kauk, who was a member of this year's Telus Cup-winning Winnipeg Thrashers midget AAA squad.
Kauk was highly sought after and is expected to play a significant role on the Estevan blueline.
The Winnipeg native posted seven goals and 17 points in 44 regular season games last season, along with 11 points in as many playoff games.
The Bruins also inked Carlyle native Ben Johnstone on Thursday. Johnstone is a 1993-born right winger who played for the Yorkton Harvest last season, racking up 22 goals and 44 points.
The Bruins hold the rights to several top scorers in both the Saskatchewan and Manitoba midget AAA leagues, and most are expected to sign with the club. Further announcements are likely in the coming days.
