Apex bruins 1-1-1 in three games

The Estevan Apex midget AA Bruins had three games last week, starting in Whitewood on Thursday night against the Pipestone Valley Jets. The Bruins trailed 2-1 after the first period, but were able to battle back in what turned out to be a high-scoring affair.

When it was all said and done, the two teams put 14 goals up on the board in a 7-7 draw.Dylan Johner had two goals for the Bruins, while singles went to Brody Connelly, Cole Blischak, Dylan Herzberg, Rhett Handley and Klae Bayda.Estevan returned home for back-to-back contests against the Yorkton Kinsmen Terriers on Saturday and Sunday at the Civic.

In the first game on Saturday, the Bruins jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game, chasing the Terriers starting goalie in the process. Yorkton did all they could to try and get back into the contest, but the Bruins were too strong and held on for a 7-4 victory.Handley and Bayda each had two goals and an assist in the win, while Herzberg, Jake McMillen and Marshall Holzer also scored for Estevan. Connelly also played a big role in the Bruins offence with three assists.In the second game on Sunday, the Terriers were able to come out on top by a score of 5-3.

Mark Moriarty had a pair of goals in the loss for the Bruins, while McMillen had the other. The Bruins (29-5-2) are back in action tonight at the Lignite Miners Centre, where they'll host the Prairie Storm at 7:45. They will then hit the road for a pair of games this weekend. They'll be in Regina on Friday to face the Flames and then in Weyburn on Saturday to take on the Petro Bakken Wings.Estevan's next two-game, total-goals provincial series will be the СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Sask League final against the Notre Dame Argos. Game one will be played next Wednesday in Wilcox at 5 p.m. and game two will be at the Civic the following day at 8 p.m.
