ESTEVAN - The Estevan Strippers continued a tradition this year by handing out an award to the oldest player in their Spring Bust Tournament.
This year's recipient is Ed Myers, a 72-year-old member of the Melville Moneymen, an over-45 team that competes in the Preston Meyer Memorial Division.
Myers is the first player from a Melville team to ever win the award.
A player can win the oldest player award just once at the Strippers tournament.
This year marks the 39th edition of the Spring Bust competition.
The tournament is wrapping up Sunday. It started Wednesday evening and has featured five days of hockey. Thirty-six teams have entered this year's competition, making it the largest recreational hockey tournament in Saskatchewan. Thanks to a couple of cabarets and other efforts, the tournament is also a fundraiser for community initiatives.
