Weyburn's Telus Walk to Cure Diabetes was a big success this year, according to organizer Trina Kopec. The walk raised $32,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
"It went great," said Kopec. "We almost raised $10,000 more than last year."
Registration for Weyburn's second annual Walk to Cure Diabetes took place at City Centre Mall on November 14 - World Diabetes Day. Participants then walked throughout the downtown area to show their support for the cause.
Kopec brought the walk to Weyburn last year in support of her nine-year-old son, Holden Duncan-Kopec, who was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes when he was one and a half years old. Holden addressed the crowd before the walk and shared stories about his life with the disease.
