On December 9th at approximately 8:30 am, Estevan RCMP, Ambulance , and Fire Department responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Highways 39 and 18 near the Town of Bienfait, Saskatchewan. An East-bound truck traveled into the on-coming lane of Highway 39 and impacted with a West-bound SUV exiting the merge lane from Highway 18 resulting in both vehicles coming to rest in the North ditch of highway 39. The 27 year old female driver of the West-bound SUV, the lone occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene. The 38 year old female driver of the East-bound truck, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was transported via ambulance to hospital in Regina.
The highway condition was very icy at the time. The name of the deceased will not be released at this time, pending next of kin and permission of the family.

The Estevan Police Service, RCMP, and Estevan Fire Rescue were called out to an accident at the Bienfait highway intersection earlier this morning. Highway 39 East leading to Bienfait is extremely ice covered resulting in slippery driving conditions, extreme caution is advised if heading out onto the highways today.
