UPDATE:

SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN - The extreme cold warning that was in effect for southeast Saskatchewan has come to an end.

Environment Canada lifted the advisory Tuesday during the noon hour. It had been in place since Thursday afternoon. It was the first extreme cold warning to be issued during the winter of 2023-24.

Temperatures plunged below the -30 C mark for much of the past few days, and combined with the strong northwest winds, the wind chill exceeded -50 C.

Below-average temperatures are expected to persist for a few more days in the southeast, and then warmer winter weather is expected to arrive on the weekend.

The extreme cold warning is still in place for Regina and surrounding areas.
