SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN - Environment Canada has lifted the most recent severe thunderstorm watch for southeast Saskatchewan.

The latest advisory, issued at 10:38 a.m. Thursday, covered Estevan, Weyburn, Carlyle, Oxbow, Carnduff, Redvers, Kipling, Moosomin and other areas in the southeast.

It was lifted at 7:33 p.m. Some severe thunderstorm warnings were issued in the southeast.

Environment Canada said conditions were favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and torrential rain.

"An unstable air mass that has lingered over the southern Prairies for the last week will once again produce severe thunderstorms this afternoon. Thunderstorms are expected to weaken as the sun sets," Environment Canada said.

A severe thunderstorm watch was also issued Wednesday throughout southern Saskatchewan, and some thunderstorms did develop.
