The Saskatchewan Party announced a replacement for Saskatoon Eastview to replace Daryl Cooper on Sunday, October 4.
Chris Gu茅rette will substitute Cooper in the Oct. 26 election. She formerly served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Saskatoon and Region Home Builders鈥 Association since 2016. The Saskatchewan Party also said Gu茅rette had over 15 years of leadership experience in the housing, not-for-profit, health and education fields.
Cooper resigned on Saturday night because of his online activities on social media connected to COVID-19 and QAnon conspiracies.
QAnon is a recent conspiracy theory gaining popularity over the world, but especially in North America and Western Europe. QAnon followers are frequently associated with the far right 鈥 they believe a cabal of Satan-worshiping pedophiles are running a global child sex-trafficking ring and are plotting against President Donald Trump.
鈥淚 am excited to join the Saskatchewan Party team and start talking to voters about our plan for a strong Saskatchewan,鈥 Gu茅rette said.聽鈥淥ver the first week of the campaign, Premier Scott Moe has announced a number of new ideas to continue Saskatchewan鈥檚 strong recovery from the pandemic and make life more affordable for Saskatchewan people.聽 It鈥檚 a great plan and I can鈥檛 wait to start my campaign.鈥
Premier Scott Moe believed Gu茅rette would be a powerful representative for Saskatoon.
鈥淐hris has been a real leader in her industry and has been working to build a strong economy and a strong Saskatoon for many years now,鈥 Moe said. 鈥淚 know she is also a tireless worker and she will be on the doorstep speaking with as many voters as she can over the last three weeks of the campaign.鈥
