The Red Coat Community Market enters into its seventh year

The first Red Coat Community Markets in Assiniboia were once held on Saturdays in the latter parts of August, but then the members of the Red Coat Agricultural Society decided to organize their events for the last Sundays in August instead.

In 2018, a second market day was added to include the first Sunday in September after Labour Day.

鈥淭he Red Coat Ag Society though it would be a suitable idea. We鈥檝e been happy with having the markets on Sundays,鈥 Amy Heatcoat said. Heatcoat, a member of the Red Coat Ag Society, explained that Sundays were better for both vendors and patrons, since other markets and events in 小蓝视频 Saskatchewan are often arranged on Saturdays. The markets organized by the Red Coat Ag Society have been operating in Assiniboia since 2012. 听

This year, the market on August 25 ran from 11-4 p.m. inside the Assiniboia Civic Centre. The market in September is scheduled for September 8. The second market day in September is also planned to occur both indoors and outdoors.听

The Assiniboia Scout Troop were selling barbecued smokies and other lunch items during the first market in August. There were a variety of vendors inside the arena from several localities in the Assiniboia region. Gina Meacher from Lafleche had a stall selling doll clothes she created herself. She also sold collectable dolls. 鈥淭hey鈥檙e the 18-inch fashion dolls. A lot of people refer to them as American Dolls,鈥 Meacher said. Meacher鈥檚 company, Dream Land Doll Clothes, specializes in retailing handcrafted doll clothes and accessories.

Pat Dorazio from Big Beaver was marketing her wreaths designed for all occasions, including Halloween and Christmas. Dorazio even created wreaths to honour the Saskatchewan Roughriders. She also sold canned goods.听

Hayley Gibson and her father Steve had many delicious treats for sale, including doughnuts, brownies and cakes. She made the baked goods herself with some help from her mother and other adults. Although she retailed her delicacies for pocket money, Gibson also had raffle tickets for Giselle鈥檚 ShowTyme Dance on sale at her table.

Sommer Amare and her daughter Paika came from Moose Jaw to sell locally grown herbs and herbal products. 鈥淚t鈥檚 good,鈥 Amare said as she described her market day experience in Assiniboia. 鈥淚t鈥檚 my fourth market.鈥 听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听
