The Assiniboia & District Museum welcomed Anne Weisgerber, Community Consultant for 小蓝视频 West District for Culture, Recreation & Sport on October 11 for a grant writing course. Weisgerber arrived in Assiniboia to offer her guidance with grant writing, after it was noticed some in the community and surrounding areas needed guidance. Grant applications involve a very complex and competitive process.

The course wasn鈥檛 geared for museums specifically, as there were other organizations and non-profits in the area who needed help with the difficult process of writing grants. Dave Munro (The Friends of St. Victor Petroglyphs), Shirley Scott (Assiniboia Historical Society), Bonnie Olafson (Mossbank Museum), Steph VanDeSype(Recreation & Community Wellness Manager for Assiniboia), Lori Crighton (Branch Librarian Assiniboia & District Public Library), Lorne Kwasnicki (St. Mary鈥檚 Church Museum in Maxstone) and Randy Gaveronski (Coordinator, Assiniboia Museum and Tourism) all joined together for this course held at the museum.

The attendees found the information helpful. Moreover, the participants in the course enjoyed networking with area groups, to understand what their specific needs were. Unfortunately, some of the grants are very specific and wouldn鈥檛 be able to help all of the groups represented in this class. Still, the grant writing workshop gave the participants more knowledge on applying for the proper grants, such as the recommendation to have all the necessary information required prior to filling grant applications. Weisgerber also advised the people in her class to know exactly what their needs were for each upcoming year whenever they apply for grants.
