Midterm report cards are due to be sent out on Monday, November 22. This will be our first printing with the new reporting system and, although we expect everything to go well, there may be a delay.

Parents of students in Grades 1 to 9 will notice that the new report card is different from previous years. As has been widely publicized by the 小蓝视频 East Cornerstone School Division this report is the first in which student progress is reported by individual outcomes within the curriculum. Each outcome is assessed on a four point scale indicating whether the student is experiencing difficulties, beginning, approaching, or meeting expectations for that outcome. Each report card will list ALL of the outcomes in each subject area but will only have a mark for the ones which have been taught so far.

Parent-teacher interviews will be held on the evenings of November 24 and 25 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Parents are invited to come and meet the teachers and discuss their children's progress so far.

At 5:00 on Wednesday, November 24 there will be a general meeting where the philosophy behind the new reporting process will be outlined. Parents are encouraged to come to this meeting to learn about this initiative and to express their opinions.

School Busses

Parents are reminded that they need to let their bus drivers know when their children will not be on the bus. A note has been sent home listing the drivers' cell phone numbers, please text or call to let them know if your son or daughter will not be riding the bus each day. Busses will remain after school for 10 minutes from dismissal (until 3:15) but the drivers will not know whether your child is late or not intending to ride the bus each day unless you call.

Winter Attire and Bus Cancellations

With winter approaching all parents are reminded to make sure your children are dressed appropriately. Busses may get stuck and/or bad weather may strike at any time so be sure your children have gloves or mittens, a warm coat, and some kind of head covering just in case. The school is open on all days but bus cancellations can be heard on CJSL 1280.

Respectful Behaviour Committee

We are looking for volunteer opportunities within the community for our students. If anyone is aware of any events that are coming up which could use some extra helping hands please let us know and we will do our best to provide you with energetic and responsible young men or women with a variety of skills and ranging in age from 13-18 years old. Please contact the school at 457-2533.

Gym Floor

We are extremely pleased to announce that our new gym floor is finished 小蓝视频 installed and is fully operational!! The floor looks amazing and is a huge upgrade to our school. We ask that in order to preserve our investment all community members (including students and parents) please remove all outdoor footwear and use only INDOOR NON-MARKING RUNNING SHOES when entering the gym, thank you in advance for your cooperation. If the floor cover is on the floor when entering the gym, you may wear your outdoor shoes in those locations, the floor cover will be used for certain events taking place in the gym.

Physical Education

We are also looking for people to donate old or unwanted thick socks or wool socks. These socks will be used to cover the blades of the sticks for floor hockey so that the sticks do not scratch up the floor. Any sock donations can be dropped off to the office or directly to the Physical Education teachers. Thank you in advance for any sock donations.

Our school has been fortunate enough to receive some generous donations and grants for not only the new gym floor but also for some new equipment for the Physical Education classes with new volleyball equipment 小蓝视频 the major addition. Our new volleyball equipment is easier to use and more durable than our old equipment which should result in the equipment 小蓝视频 more user friendly and last for a very long time.

Also, just another reminder that all students in Physical Education will need indoor non-marking running shoes to wear in the gym.

Athletics

Volleyball season is quickly coming to an end for our teams. We had a unique year with our volleyball teams, since we did not have our own gymnasium until recently the players (and parents) were forced to arrange parent volunteer drivers for almost all practices and games. We would like to thank all of the players, parents, and coaches for showing exceptional dedication and commitment to our school volleyball teams, your willingness to travel for practices and games made the volleyball season an enjoyable and worthwhile experience for all involved. To show their appreciation to the players and the parents, the coaches have decided to extend the volleyball season by a couple of weeks so that the teams will get an opportunity to use the new volleyball equipment and play on the new gym floor.

The Senior Boys Volleyball team has had a very busy season this year and it isn't over yet. This past weekend they were competing in Kahkawistahaw and they placed 3rd over all. There was very strong competition and the games were great.

Congratulations to the Sr. Boys Volleyball team who is going to be competing in the 2A Regional Championship this up coming weekend. Good luck boys and I am sure you will do great, the school is very proud of the way you have been representing us this whole year.

Basketball season is right around the corner and will likely start shortly after the extended volleyball season ends. Those players that are interested should talk to the coaches for more details (Mr. Schott - Junior Girls and Senior Boys; Ms. Campbell - Rookie/Junior Boys and Senior Girls).

The first day of every week will be grades 4-6 and then we will alternate the remaining days of the week between grades 7-9 and 10-12.
