The Stoughton Lions Club sponsored the school curling club with a handsome set of jackets. The students have been wearing their black fleece jackets with pride!! The Lions Club has also been very supportive and generous regarding the sponsorship of various youth curling bonspiels; which has increased the 'curling enthusiasm in the town of Stoughton.
Jacquie Walbaum and Deb Laforet have given their time, energy and talent in providing a fabulous, creative singing experience for the grade 7,8,9 students. The talents of these middle years students; along with Jacquie and Deb will be showcased at the "Time To Shine 2011" school talent show at the end of May. The talent show will also showcase everything from fiddle and piano playing to guitar strumming and hip hop and tap dancing.
The Drama Club is firing up for the Middle Years Drama Festival, which is 小蓝视频 held at the University of Regina on May 10 & 11. Mr. Rowland and Mrs. Cameron; along with their dedicated and committed cast, will be performing the comedy, "After Hours" in Stoughton at the beginning of May.
Sports Reports
Senior Boys curling ended at playoffs in Arcola on February 14th. One Grade 11 team and one Grade 10 team participated.
The junior girls and boys are sending a total of six curling teams to the junior playoffs in Weyburn on March 10th and 11th. Good luck curlers!! Peter Piper and Lonnie and Tyler Corbin were our community coaches for the curlers this year.
The basketball season ended this past week for many teams. On Friday, March 4th, the Rookie Boys travelled to Moosomin for playoffs, while the Junior Boys were at Gladmar. Both teams lost out but put in their hardest efforts.
Congratulations to the Junior Girls Basketball team who had a terrific season! They hosted playoffs on March 4th . The girls played some very entertaining basketball this season and were a very strong team finishing 3rd in the District. Mr. Schott and the girls looking forward to next season when the expectation will be even higher as almost the entire team is returning!!
The Senior Boys Basketball team begins their Conference Playoffs this weekend in Ogema with hopes of advancing to Regional Playoffs the following weekend. The Boys have had a great season thus far and are looking forward to the opportunity of going deep into the playoffs once again this year.
SRC Events
The SRC has been super busy organizing a variety of events around the school and the next one coming is BULLDOG BUCKS. Throughout March there will be a variety of events that the students will take part in. They will be competing for Bulldog Bucks that can be used to purchase a variety of items that the teachers have "donated". These items are things such as "Dress me up in your choice of sporting apparel", "Treats in class", "Homework free card" and much much more! It will be great fun so keep an ear open throughout the school for BULLDOG BUCK events!
Wednesday March 30th will be the start of the spirit days with P.J. Day. Wednesday April 6th will be Super Hero day where the students can dress up as current super hero's or create their own. Wednesday April 13th is "Tight-n-Bright" and finally on Wednesday April 20th it is "Twin Day".
