SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN - Environment Canada has issued another special air quality statement for much of southern Saskatchewan due to the smoke generated by wildfires.
According to the advisory, issued just after 1 p.m. Monday, smoke is currently producing poor air quality and visibility across much of Saskatchewan and northern Manitoba. The smoke is expected to track southeast into western Manitoba Monday night.
Smoke is expected to clear late Tuesday.
Regina, Moose Jaw, Estevan, Weyburn, Carlyle, Assiniboia, Moosomin and surrounding areas are among those affected by the advisory.
Environment Canada cautions the public that wildfire smoke concentrations can fluctuate over short distances and vary considerably from hour to hour. Wildfire smoke can be harmful to everyone’s health even at low concentrations, but everyone can take action to reduce their exposure to wildfire smoke.
People should check the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) and monitor their symptoms.
