SOUTHEAST SASKATHEWAN - After weeks of largely dry conditions and above-average temperatures, southeast Saskatchewan is getting a blast of winter on Friday.
A weather system packing snow and strong winds has gripped the region. Rain fell on the area on Thursday evening, and shifted to snow during the overnight hours.
The snow is 小蓝视频 whipped around by strong winds, as gusts have exceeded 50 kilometres per hour. Snow is expected to continue in the region into Friday afternoon.
As of Friday morning at 8:30 a.m., there were no weather advisories for the southeast.
The Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure's Highway indicates that winter conditions exist on area highways, with such challenges as loose snow, a wet surface subject to freezing, and ice or slippery sections. The conditions were worse closer to Saskatchewan's borders with Manitoba and North Dakota on Friday morning, as there was reduced visibility.
