Slippery streets and subjects keep police fully involved

A few slippery intersections and a few slippery individuals who required some attention from the Estevan Police Service (EPS) dominated the local policing scene this past week.

On Nov. 24, EPS members attended to a couple of accident scenes at the intersection of Sixth Street and 13th Avenue.

The first incident was a rear-end collision involving a vehicle stopped at the intersection lights. The collision was seen to be due to the slippery road. No injuries were involved and the investigation was concluded efficiently.

The second call involved a similar circumstance, but this time the collision resulted in minor injuries. This matter was also concluded successfully.

A report of a break, enter and theft incident in the central part of the city attracted police attention that same day. A 50-inch plasma television was reported stolen and this matter remains under investigation.

Police were also asked to look into the matter of a person who was reported missing from the central part of the city. The subject had not been seen all of the preceding evening so police were contacted. The person was located safe and unharmed with no foul play suspected so the matter was concluded.
On the night of Nov. 24, police responded to a report of an intoxicated woman causing a disturbance in the central part of the city.

A 27-year-old Loon Lake resident was arrested and lodged in cells for breaching the conditions of an earlier release. She has a court date later this month.

A 22-year-old Estevan man was arrested and lodged in cells after refusing to pay his bill at a local licensed establishment. Police noted that he also had outstanding traffic warrants issued against him. He was released after gaining sobriety and now has a court date.

A 17-year-old Estevan man was arrested on outstanding warrants that same night. He was taken into custody following a traffic stop in the Hillside area of the city. The man is facing numerous Traffic Safety Act charges.

On the night of Nov. 25, EPS members responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Second Avenue and Fourth Street.

A 25-year-old Estevan man is facing charges of driving while impaired and wilful damage to Estevan Police Service property as a result of this incident.

He has a court date later this month.

A complaint of someone uttering threats at a local establishment is 小蓝视频 looked into by EPS members. They are continuing with the investigation based on their original findings.

Police then received a complaint regarding a man acting suspiciously in the Hillcrest area of the city.

The man had departed prior to police arrival, but police said they encourage the general public to remain vigilant and report any strange movements or unusual vehicles or people in their neighbourhood.

On Nov. 25, EPS members responded to a disturbance at a local lounge in the central part of the city during their evening shift. Three men were reported to having been engaged in a fight but the suspects were gone by the time police arrived.

A 32-year-old man was observed sleeping in his truck at the railway crossing on 13th Avenue on the night of Nov. 26. Further investigation revealed that the man was impaired and he was subsequently charged and now has a Dec. 9 court date.

Another traffic stop in Estevan resulted in a 24-year-old Estevan woman 小蓝视频 charged with impaired driving and she now has a Dec. 20 court date.

One other person, an Estevan man, was also handed a 24-hour driving suspension as a result of a police traffic stop during the evening patrols.

Police received a call regarding a vehicle that had been vandalized on the north side of the city Nov. 26. The driver's side window had been smashed and items removed from the interior. The incident remains under investigation.

That same night police responded to another robbery call. A local business had been entered by two suspects dressed in coveralls and wearing balaclavas. They entered the office area of the establishment and removed a safe.

The details surrounding this theft remain under investigation.

On the night of Nov. 27, police were called to a business in the central part of the city in response to a report of a 47-year-old man sleeping in front of the main entrance. The man was arrested for 小蓝视频 intoxicated in public and the matter was concluded.

A report of a female pedestrian in distress in the north central area of the city was responded to by police on Nov. 27. They located her soon after the call and confirmed she was safe in a residence in the area and no further action was required.

An intoxicated 23-year-old man was taken into custody following a police patrol in the north central area.

A response to a disturbance at a business in the north central part of the city resulted in the arrest of a 25-year-old intoxicated male. He was also found to be in possession of marijuana. He has a Dec. 20 court date.

A traffic stop later that same night resulted in a 21-year-old man receiving a 24-hour driving licence suspension.

A disturbance in the north central part of the city required police attention. The disturbance caused by two people was resolved and the matter was concluded.

Police are continuing their investigation into the report of a theft at a residence in the north central sector of the city. Occupants of the residence said they had heard a suspect inside the building, but could not locate anyone when they looked in. They then concluded that the thief had already left. No suspects have been uncovered yet and the matter remains under investigation.

Occupants of a residence in the northeast section of the city were warned about the noise bylaw following a complaint of a noisy party on the night of Nov. 27.

On Nov. 28, police were called to an accident scene. A truck had struck a light pole in the southwest part of the city. The truck had left the scene, but it and the driver was located by police not far from the actual scene. Police are continuing their investigation.

A theft from an apartment in the southeast part of the city was reported to police on the night of Nov. 28. Suspects had taken an envelope containing cash. This matter remains under investigation.

An intoxicated female who pulled the fire alarm at a local lounge as she was leaving the establishment on the night of Nov. 29 is 小蓝视频 sought by members of the EPS.

The delivery of a large modular home on the north side of the city on Nov. 29 required some police assistance for traffic control while the building was 小蓝视频 delivered and put in place.

On the night of Nov. 29, EPS members were required to dispense with a badger that was creating a disturbance in the southwest area of the city. The animal had become agitated and there were several complaints from area residents regarding the animal and its frightening movements. The badger had been cornered at one point and it was deemed necessary to dispatch it before it became a further threat to public safety.
