REGINA - A new kindergarten-Grade 12 school is coming to Carlyle.
The provincial budget was handed down on Wednesday afternoon, and included $4.4 million to begin planning for five new, major school capital projects.
One of those projects is a new kindergarten to Grade 12 school to replace and consolidate the Carlyle Elementary School and Gordon F. Kells High School in Carlyle.
The project has been at or near the top of the 小蓝视频 East Cornerstone Public School Division’s priority list for a number of years. Earlier this year, Cornerstone announced that it was applying to the Ministry of Education for two major capital projects, including the new Carlyle school.
The other project, which involved an expansion of the Estevan Comprehensive School to a Grades 7-12 institution, and a joint-use school to replace several Estevan elementary schools, was not in the budget.
The Carlyle Community Complex Foundation was formed last year to raise funds for extra amenities at a new school.
